Contexts for Advocacy

After reading the characteristics of an effective advocates that are listed in the text, I found that I am optimistic, because not being successful is not an option. I refuse to accept not succeeding in achieving all goals, in spite of the situation. I believe that being optimistic is having “Faith.” And having faith is believing that it is going to be successful even when you can’t see it. I believe that I am optimistic when educating children, regardless of disabilities or behavior differences. I believe all children deserve and can be taught. There are no excuses or exceptions when it comes to teaching.

I have a vision that children can learn even when they are experiencing difficulties. I have a vision that when children are being taught by me they are comfortable and willing and eager to learn more. I have a vision that children will mature and bloom into successful and prominent individuals. I have a vision where their character is displayed in their learning and behavior. I have a vision that children will display self control skills in the class and at home, as well.

I have stamina and perseverance to where no matter how hard the challenge of teaching my students and I will another effective approach and angle to teaching them. I have the stamina to never give up and easily frustrated. I have the stamina to stay positive and encouraging until the end. I have perseverance to keep going and moving forward and not regressing. That is unacceptable in all cases.

Lastly, I have communication that is effectively to a wide range individuals, because communication is the key to an effective relationship. And most of all Teamwork. I say that because teamwork is what help to engage the parents and other support staff, when it comes to the child reaping the benefits of learning. Communication is very important also for the children, because they will feel comfortable with me ( their teacher). I have this because it also helps to communicate better when it comes to coming in contact with others. And adding the other one, which is passion. I have a passion to teach young children, because I believe I am equipping them for the future. Yes, I think so, because it helps to establish an effective learning attitude. I once heard someone tell me that “Your attitude determines how and what you learn.” I found it to be true. And it goes both ways for the teacher, the child and their family.

I believe that all of these are essential when it comes to cultivating critical skills. It goes back to developing their learning attitude. It really impacts them in the long run. These are very essential when it comes to encouraging children in their learning experience. This is why I strive to learn more and more so that I am equipped with all that I need to teach children. They have a right and deserve to be taught all the necessary skills need for school entry.

The specific skills that I intend to work on in order to reach higher levels do competency related to the work that I desire to do as an advocate is to stay current in all educational opportunities. I intend on attending workshops that will help keep me abroad of any early childhood changes. I plan to be involved in a groups that will allow me to research and learn more. I will enhance my knowledge so that I am always gaining more knowledge.

After reviewing the advocacy activities and I found #6 to be interesting. I think this is one is interesting, because it allows the teachers to get hands on experience with the child. And this allows the child to learn better with one on one activities, because it allows them to observe the child and come up with an effective lesson that will help the child learn by using hands on activities. This will allow the child to comprehend better, especially if they have disability.
